VSS national day party 2008

This year, the vegetarian society of Singapore had a national day party, where we can watch the NDP parade on a wide screen (wall). The highlight was Linda Loo, a raw vegan who came and gave us a talk on her lifestyle and we got to try her raw cake and onde onde :)

Dinner was catered from Gokul veg restaurant.

Chicken rice. The mock chicken was pretty tasty.

Chai Tow Kway (Centre) and a salty salad-styled dish with peanuts (foreground). The chilli paste in the background was for...

...this dish. The dish on the right is mee siam.

What's the raw cake made of? Cucumbers & mushrooms? as shown on left of 1st picture?
Look & sound interesting :-)

The raw cake was made up of raw cacao powder, figs and raw honey!

You can take a look at pictures of raw gourmet dishes on the website http://www.rawfoodlifestyles.com/

Cheers! ;)

Figs? oh, i thought vegan don't eat honey? how come use raw honey for the raw cake? very curious to see how the cake looks like.. Any photos?

You are right, some vegans (though not all) do not take honey.

You may replace the honey with agave if you like!

Can see photos from www.rawfoodlifestyles.com in the slide show.

The sweet chilli sauce with ground peanut is for the Indian Rojak. It was the freshest I've ever had. The Indian Rojak you find at stalls are always not fresh and have been left sitting there all day, worse still, most have loads of colouring and have been fried over and over again to mask the staleness *horrors*!

Mee Siam is my favorite...I often order it at a Malaysian restaurant here. I call it MMMMMMMmmmmmmee Siam. ;)

BTW, in my eyes, honey is not vegan. Vegans don't consume any animal products. Honey is an animal product.
