Loving animals, hating humans

Do you, as a vegan or vegetarian, hate people? I have seen how animals are tortured on TV, I have seen the fear and desperation in their eyes, I have seen how the humans look at them die as if it's nothing. Sometimes I can’t stand the humans.

But one thing I learnt is that hate never make good things go far. If there’s a person we absolutely hate because he or she derives pleasure from torturing animals, eventually if we want to promote veg*nism and kindness to the world, this will definitely be one important person to aid. Hating people won’t help them understand, loving people would.

What can we do to stop hating? The opposite of hatred is love; the opposite of cruelty is compassion. We have to start working on these two positive thoughts – love and compassion. If you are vegetarian for the animals suffering and feel joy when you see them running about happily at sanctuaries, I am sure you already have the compassion and love for them. What about humans? We can work on understanding first. Some people work at slaughterhouses not because they want it, but because of their situation. Some of them may be desensitized by the work at the slaughterhouse. Some people have their hearts filled with the burden of greed, some people hate because they do not know how to love and be kind, some people are simply ignorant. When we understand that, we can start to work on our love and compassion for these people and solve the problem of hatred in our own hearts besides promoting veg*nism. I read an article "the price of veganism". It’s about an animal rights activist who was consumed in hatred, but eventually break through that, a good read!

No humans are evil, maybe like me, you get angry a lot, but even the meanest person has the capacity to develop their love and compassion. I will share with you a story in my next post on this point, some of you may have read before.

I can understand the above after watching Fast Food Nation, for some, they just do not have the luxury of choice to choose... sigh! :(

I believe if people really care they will find alternative work to a slaughterhouse.

Sadly I find hate does creep in here and there when it comes to humans. At the moment the Namibian Seal Hunt is killing 100% of breast feeding pups...hard not to hate the man behind it as it's also being done by unskilled people so death does not come quickly to them. The local seal support website is http://www.sealalert.org/

Thanks for the link jackie, I just signed the petition. It's sad to see the mass murder! Greed is a major motivation behind a lot of things, I believe the profits from the fishing industry are driving the govt to do the culling :(

Haha.. maybe because animals minds are more simple and not complex and schemeing like many ppl :)

That's what I though exactly! :)

And because animals all look so cute... whereas, good looking humans usually use their good looks to manipulate ppl to achieve their goals (kinda affected by a story my friend told me that happened in her office)

hmm good looking ppl usually attract more attention and ppl are more willing to listen to them, maybe it seem like manipulation, but it isn't (ok, some of them do i agree) :) Actually besides good looks, charisma plays a large part too. I know some ppl who are good looking but don't really have a lot of friends.
