Will you trade your freedom for good tasting veg food?

Apparently that's what some prisoners of an Indian prison do. Criminals refuse to apply for bail while young prisoners are trying to get in the prison. This is due to the healthy vegetarian food served by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. They get to eat three meals a day and also dessert once a week and on special days.

I read this article with amusement, if you like to spent your free time in your room all day it certainly sounds attractive doesn't it? I still prefer freedom though. Perhaps it would be better if the food isn't that tasty, or if the prisoners are working in the prison and contributing to society.

Maybe ISKCON should offer the good food (and skip the buttermilk!) to homeless people on the streets instead. Reminds me of Swedish prisons though, they're almost like hotels and people do commit crimes to get there for the winter. Sort of takes away the point, doesn't it?

That sounds a like a good idea :) Yea no point, I guess it's better if prison food isn't that good.

"When we are getting tasty, nutritious food three times a day here, why should we go out and commit crimes."

Interesting.

Yea, I thought they commit crimes not for food :)

I really wish ISKCON supports veganisim without using milk and milk products such as butter-milk and ghee.

Yes kumudha, I agree! That would be really great!
