Getting your CNY fix

It's easy to find CNY cookies made without eggs in Singapore, but without dairy and without the use of dairy-containing margarine is not an easy task!

It disappointing that there are many vegetarian bakeries and food stalls in Singapore and yet most have not caught on to the vegan concept of animal-product free food. They use dairy or they may use non-dairy creamer in their cakes and stuff, and vegetarian pratas and pastries use planta margarine not those dairy-free margarines.

And if we manage to find some hard to find, rarely-vegan stuff that is vegan, its price is likely to be jacked up so much that you won't even feel like buying it. The concept of jacking up prices just because a company is a monopoly for a certain vegan product is really mean towards vegan customers.

Chinese new year is just around the corner... here are some vegan cookies a vegan friend, Halimah will be baking for orders, the price is rather fair.

hey..great blog..i sense ur frustration in the lack of vegan products in sg...so do I.

But the concept of veganism evolved in the western world and even then, the followers are a small proportion.

And in Asian countries, that proportion is even smaller.

Thus it will take some time(or longer) for that trend to catch on.

Only people like us(vegans) can help to make that proportion grow bigger..

no point just sitting down and doing nothing...we have got to make the CHANGE in others..

it is only when more people start to embrace veganism will there be vegan products in sg...

until then, all we gotta do is wait ..
